What is the Learning Assistance Program?

Title I & LAP refer to funding sources. Title I funds are from the federal government and LAP funds are from the state government. Both are used to provide additional support to students so that they can move towards achieving grade level standards. In Battle Ground Public Schools, we primarily use these funds for K-4 Reading Intervention programs. At many of our primary schools, the reading intervention classes are referred to as "LAP".

It was hard to follow along with the teaching of the sounds and “tapping”, but once it was demonstrated it was easy to comprehend. Thank you for providing this program. It made a positive impact and now my child looks forward to reading. - parent of a student using LAP services
